Dode, equipped with enthusiasm, flashlights, and a fully loaded rifle, welcomes the motley gang of crime-busters. Veenie and Ruby Jane brush aside Dode’s worries that Sheriff Boots has roped off the mansion, forbidding anyone to cross the crime tape. A pair of surprise visitors arrive in the storm, determined to join the séance. The gang gathers their nerve, determined to enlist the energy of a wicked thunderstorm to stir up the slumbering specters.
