Veenie shakes Ruby Jane awake in the middle of the night with an urgent new mystery. Fergie Junior, Veenie’s shiftless grown son, has had his Harley stolen. He needs a ride home from Pokey’s Tavern where his band, “The Lonely Lip Lizards,” headlines. Grumbling, our detective grannies speed to the tavern. They grab a mid-night snack of cheesy mystery meat sandwiches while interrogating a mysterious interloper who’s joined Junior’s band. Veenie and Ruby Jane zoom to the Moon Glo Motor Lodge, Pawpaw County’s palace of hillbilly hanky-panky, to pick up Kandy, the medium. Neither are surprised to discover the boss, Harry, courting Kandy in his skivvies. Rousting the couple out of their seedy love nest, the gang heads to Dode’s farm to scare up the spirits. Dode, equipped with enthusiasm, flashlights, and a fully loaded rifle, welcomes the motley gang of crime-busters. Veenie and Ruby Jane brush aside Dode’s worries that Sheriff Boots has roped off the mansion, forbidding anyone to cross the crime tape. A pair of surprise visitors arrive in the storm, determined to join the séance. The gang gathers their nerve, determined to enlist the energy of a wicked thunderstorm to stir up the slumbering specters.

As the storm rages, our home-grown lady detectives, and Kandy, the medium, strike up a séance. Strange things begin to happen inside the mansion. Apparitions appear. Voices moans from the cracked walls of the haunted house. Ghosts—if that’s what it is—issue a dire warning, adding credibility to the old legend that a treasure of gold may be hidden on the old homestead. Listen in as the séance heats up, and our gang of sleuths are left with their knees knocking and more questions than answers.

Spooked by the séance, our senior gal pals retreat homeward to find their boarder, Sassy, resident senior cougar, entertaining a new man friend, Melvin. RJ shrugs off Sassy’s husband hunting antics as she updates her on the peculiar happenings at the mansion. Meanwhile, Veenie discovers Junior’s stolen Harley for sale online. She and RJ hatch a plot to entrap the seller.

Pooter Johnson, light-fingered truant, meets our senior gal pals at the covered bridge. When pressed by Veenie to admit that he stole the Harley, Pooter denies everything, confessing only to be the sales agent. Seeing a mysterious 1970 purple Gremlin parked down by a river camp RJ tells Pooter they have to drive back to town to get the money to buy the bike. She and Veenie sneak down to the river camp hoping to catch the bike thief red handed. Who or what do they find lurking inside the mysterious Gremlin camp? Do they manage to get Junior’s bike back? The old Impala in the shop, are once again on the prowl. The detective duo uncovers a surprise stash of items in the old apple Veenie’s boyfriend, Dickie, gifts the gals a new set of wheels. The new wheels turn out to be less than idea, but, hey, our inventive oldsters make do. Dode calls Ruby Jane and Harry out to the farmhouse where ghosts orchard. Footprints clue RJ that Dode’s mysterious orchard ghosts may be very-very alive.
